Our History
For more than a century, the Daytona Beach oceanfront has been home to live performance. Two landmark venues carry that history forward today.
Peabody Auditorium
The city's first oceanfront auditorium was built in 1919 and was destroyed by fire. In its place, the Peabody Auditorium opened in 1949, made possible in part by a gift from Simon J. Peabody, and quickly became the cultural centerpiece of Daytona Beach.
Today the Peabody seats more than 2,500 guests and operates as a rental venue, hosting touring Broadway productions, concerts, comedians, dance, symphony performances, graduations and community events throughout the year.
Daytona Beach Oceanfront Bandshell
Built of native coquina rock as a Works Progress Administration project, the Oceanfront Bandshell opened in 1937 and remains one of the premiere open-air venues in the southeastern United States.
The Bandshell anchors Oceanfront Park and hosts free summer concert series, ticketed shows, festivals and celebrations steps from the Atlantic Ocean.
